How the college season works

Teams play a conference schedule plus non-conference games from October to March. Conference tournaments follow, and the national tournament — sixteen teams, ending at the Frozen Four — decides the champion.

A regular-season game still level after overtime can go to a shootout for conference points, but nationally it stays a tie: that is why records here read W-L-T and why a “Final/SO” shows a level score.

The NPI (NCAA Percentage Index) is the selection metric for the national tournament. Our conference tables are computed from results and are ordered by conference winning percentage — each conference awards its own points differently.
